What is a Green Building?

A Green Building is one, which in appearance and functionality is the same, as any other building. Any green building would show tremendous concern on efficient utilization of resources, thereby reducing the impact on environment.

Frontier's Green Building features

The following are the broad specifications of different materials/equipment are used in the building to achieve the prestigious LEED rating system. Separate chemical storage room and copier room have been created in the building with separate exhausts system to protect occupants from air pollutants.

Building would use only eco-friendly green seal certified housekeeping chemicals for the maintenance.
Building would also introduce green educational programs for visitors, occupants and contractor in imparting knowledge on green as part of company corporate social responsibility for multiplier effect.
Water efficient fixtures have been introduce which would save potable water to the tune of 30% from conventional buildings
Energy efficiency air-conditioning and lighting systems have been introduced in the building. This would save energy to the tune of 25 to 30% over conventional building
Use of CFLs/T5 lamps/LED lamps with the combination of task lighting to provide individual comfort.
High performance glazing for the building façade
Roof with insulation to prevent heat ingress to the building
Roof surface with reflective paints to avoid heat ingress from the roof surface
Building management system to control the energy operation of the building
Building encourages electrically operated vehicles and pool cars to minimize automobile pollution.
Waste generated during the building operation would be separated and send out for recycling.
Fresh air is treated and controlled through CO2 sensors to maintain the healthy indoor air quality on a continuous basis.
Paints, carpets, sealants and adhesives used in the building are eco-friendly and will not have any negative impact on the occupant’s health.
We would carrying out 15 days building flush out to remove contamination from the building before occupants allowed to work in the building.
Computers and white goods proposed for the building would be either energy star rated or BEE star rated to ensure energy efficiency
Used materials extensively which has high degree of recycled content
Building materials have been procured locally to reduce pollution due to transportation.

LEED Rating

The US Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization, has developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program on green building rating system.

The LEED green building rating system is one of the popular rating system in the world and being adopted in several countries, which includes USA, Japan, Australia, France, Canada, China, India, etc.

LEED rating system for CI rates green buildings for 57 points and 6 prerequisites. Prerequisites have to be necessarily met to apply for the rating. The entire rating system comprises of 6 credits as under:
